Position Description
Rhodium Group is looking for an entrepreneurial and talented Research Analyst to join our world-class team of economists, policy analysts, researchers, and data engineers. As a Research Analyst on the US Energy Projects (USEP) team focused on federal and state policy, you will provide key contributions to complex energy system modeling projects to answer critical, policy-relevant questions about future US emissions and energy system outcomes.
Rhodium’s USEP team conducts non-partisan, independent research on US energy systems, federal policy, state policy, and emerging clean technology (ECT) development and deployment. The team publishes research to focus clients and key audiences on the most important, impactful, and practical solutions to pressing energy and climate challenges now and over the long term.

Typically, Research Analysts join at $95,256. You will also have an additional 15% bonus target based on a combination of company and individual performance.

Position Responsibilities
- Conduct quantitative analysis using energy systems models and other tools as part of a team of researchers working on client-specific projects.
- Contribute to the operation and maintenance of Rhodium Group’s flagship US energy system model, RHG-NEMS, including the development of new RHG-NEMS functionalities.
- Carefully apply defined methodological approaches to accomplish tasks, paying close attention to details in each step. Propose improvements to methodologies as appropriate.
- Create data visualizations, charts, and PowerPoint slides. Periodically contribute to the drafting of written notes, reports, and other client- and/or external-facing materials relevant to analytical projects.
- A Master’s or other advanced degree in economics, political science, public policy, engineering, data science, or environmental science; or a Bachelor’s degree or technical credential in the same fields with at least two years of research-oriented-work analyzing the US clean energy sector.
- Experience using energy system models; experience with economy-wide and other macro energy system models a plus.
- Proficient in Python; other programming languages a plus. Strong proficiency with Excel for data analysis and visualization.
- Proven knowledge of energy market dynamics and a strong, current understanding of developments in US clean energy & climate policy, with an appetite to stay on top of a fast-moving field.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and concisely through memos, reports, briefings, and other deliverables.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity for self-directed work. The candidate should be capable of handling multiple time-sensitive projects at once and independently produce client-ready, polished outputs.
- Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and multi-disciplinary collaboration skills.
Location and Travel Requirements
- Rhodium Group’s Energy & Climate practice has a hybrid work environment (in office 1-2 days/week) with staff hubs in five cities: Washington, DC; New York, NY; the San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Seattle, WA; and Denver, CO. The candidate must be based in one of these locations, and preference will be given to applicants planning to work from either Washington, DC or the San Francisco Bay Area, CA.
