Position Description
Rhodium Group is looking for an entrepreneurial and talented Research Analyst to join our world-class team of climate scientists, policy analysts, and data and software engineers. As a Research Analyst on Rhodium’s Climate Impact Projects team, you will support the team’s work on understanding and communicating the impacts and costs of climate change. You will also be joining our collaboration with the Climate Impact Lab, a partnership led out of the University of Chicago with a mission to measure and communicate the impacts of climate change on people to empower effective decision-making on adaptation and resilience. This role offers the opportunity to perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis to ensure we are developing valuable research and products that inform adaptation decision-making. You will primarily conduct analysis and develop webtools in support of external outreach products, including reports, web interactives, and databases. You will also perform climate data analysis and contribute to the development of climate impacts research tools and datasets in support of the Climate Impact Lab.

Position Responsibilities
  • Prepare statistical analysis, summary statistics, and data visualizations to support written reports and communication of research
  • Develop lightweight web applications that provide access to research and data for specific audiences or serve as prototypes for more complex solutions
  • Manipulate, process, and analyze climate, climate impact, and socioeconomic datasets using a suite of analytical tools, including Python and jupyter notebooks
  • Support the definition of requirements for research and outreach products based on use case and audience
  • Support the preparation of narratives that communicate key storylines of analysis results
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree (or Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years relevant experience) in earth science, data science, economics, or related disciplines or equivalent work experience in a related field
  • Proficient in Python; Experience with R is a plus
  • Strong mathematics and statistics background; Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing large data sets, and experience working with climate data is a plus
  • Ability to translate data into interactive web applications using tools like Streamlit or Plotly Dash, or the ability to quickly learn those frameworks; Experience with Flask, JavaScript, Cursor, Claude Code, or cloud infrastructure for deployment is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, organization, and written communication skills required
  • Experience with cross academic-private collaboration and scientific communication is a plus
Location and Travel Requirements
  • Rhodium Group’s Energy & Climate practice has a hybrid work environment (in office 1-2 days/week) with staff hubs in five cities: Washington, DC; New York, NY; the San Francisco Bay Area, CA; Seattle, WA; and Denver, CO—the candidate must be based in one of these locations, and preference will be given to applicants planning to work from either Seattle, WA or New York, NY.
  • Occasional domestic travel (<15%)

Rhodium Group compensates based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our range may also be determined by factors including, but not limited to, your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as geographic location, performance, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, internal equity, alignment with market data, and business or organizational needs. Typically, a Research Analyst joins at $95,256. You will also have an additional 15% discretionary bonus target based on a combination of company and individual performance.
