Rhodium Group is recruiting a Research Analyst to join the company’s China Projects team. The preferred location is Rhodium Group’s Brussels office.

Position description
For over a decade, Rhodium Group has informed decision-making in Brussels, Paris, Berlin, and other capitals, producing cutting-edge research and analysis on global economic topics at the center of European deliberation. With deep expertise on China’s macroeconomic trends, industrial policy, and global interactions, our team supports policy institutions, businesses, and civil society navigating a rapidly evolving economic landscape. To broaden our European footprint, we are expanding our team in Brussels.

Rhodium Group is looking for an entrepreneurial and talented Research Analyst to join our world-class team of economists, policy and geopolitical analysts, researchers, and data engineers. As a Research Analyst, you will support the team’s research and assessments of China’s economy and its global interactions for public and private sector audiences. You will conduct applied research, deepen your advanced economic research skills, and contribute to consequential policy debates and decision-making in Europe and globally while working with exceptional colleagues.

Position responsibilities
  • Support senior staff with quantitative and qualitative economic research, such as data identification, collection, organization, and quality review, as well as data manipulation, analysis, and presentation.
  • Help write reports, research notes, and other outputs (some public, some private), for both expert and non-specialist audiences.
  • Support senior staff by carrying out economic and interdisciplinary policy research, and conducting literature reviews, policy analyses, hypothesis development, and data interpretation related to China’s economy and international economic relations.
Qualifications
Competitive applicants will have knowledge and qualifications in the following, which will be evaluated during the screening process:
  • Macroeconomics and political economy: Proven talent for economic analysis and understanding of China’s political, economic, and geopolitical conditions; Two or more years of relevant experience.
  • Analytical ability: Demonstrated skill in independent data collection and analysis and both quantitative and qualitative economic research.
  • Communication: Strong English language writing and presentation skills for professional audiences.
  • Data analysis: Demonstrated proficiency with Excel, and comfort with novel data and research tools; experience with Python/R is a plus. 
  • Problem-solving: Proven problem-solving skills and creativity in addressing research and client challenges.
  • Organization and teamwork: Time management skills, diligence, reliability, and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Language: Advanced Mandarin Chinese reading proficiency.
Location and travel requirements
  • The preferred location for this role is Rhodium Group’s office in Brussels.
  • Occasional intra-European and international travel (10-15%)
