Associate Director: Corporate Advisory
Rhodium Group is recruiting an Associate Director with energy and climate expertise to join the company’s Corporate Advisory team. The position may be based out of Washington, DC (preferred), New York City, or the Bay Area of California.

Position description
Rhodium Group is hiring an Associate Director to join our world-class team of researchers. The Associate Director will be responsible for developing new business relationships, managing existing relationships, and overseeing the execution of research and analytical outputs as part of Rhodium Group’s work advising corporate clients. The position will have a strong focus on US and global energy markets and policy trends as well as artificial intelligence (AI) and technological innovation.

The Associate Director will also contribute to the firm’s knowledge base on opportunities and challenges associated with surging power demand, the development of technology infrastructure, and energy policy shifts in major markets, as well as how they impact clean technology development, availability, and costs. Innovation in emerging climate and energy technologies, computing, and corporate energy transition strategies will also be priority coverage areas.

Position responsibilities

The position will involve the following responsibilities:
  • Execute a strategy to develop and maintain new business relationships that contribute to Rhodium Group's revenue in collaboration with the firm's Partners and Directors.
  • Engage clients and ensure the team provides the highest quality analysis and output on key topic areas of importance to them.
  • Design, conduct, and oversee execution of rigorous economic and policy analysis tailored to corporate audiences with a focus on a range of energy technology sectors and topics.
  • Manage the production and delivery of short-form client deliverables including research notes, briefing decks, email alerts, and support the delivery of longer-form research outputs.
  • Engage all analytical leads across Rhodium Group’s Energy and Climate practice to distill relevant ongoing research for clients as needed.
  • Mentor analysts to ensure highest quality of direct reports’ research and deliverables.
  • Contribute to the firm’s knowledge base on issues related to AI and energy, corporate energy transition strategies, innovative computing, and sectoral/topical issues of interest to corporate clients.
Qualifications
Eligible candidates must have the following qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in economics, political science, energy systems analysis, physical science, or related fields, plus at least six years of relevant energy market or technology professional experience (inclusive of relevant internships); or a Bachelor’s degree in the same related fields and at least eight years of relevant experience.
  • Experience developing new client relationships and new business opportunities.
  • Experience working within large corporations or engaging with corporate clients.
  • A highly motivated self-starter with strong entrepreneurial spirit and drive.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently lead the production of data-driven, objective analysis on energy and climate policies and their energy market implications in the US and other major economies.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee research staff and research projects, and to ensure highest possible quality of research outputs.
  • Professional understanding of US and globally relevant energy, climate, economic, innovation and political dynamics and a passion for bringing objective analysis to corporate audiences. Analytical expertise in the following fields will be considered a strong plus: clean energy technologies, decarbonization, artificial intelligence, or corporate climate and clean energy commitments.
  • Strong writing ability; capable of distilling complex ideas into succinct prose, notes, and slides; ability to draft short notes and reports in full, with minimal supervision.
  • Highly organized and capable of handling many time-sensitive tasks at once; close attention to detail, with an ability to independently produce client-ready, polished work.
  • Near-native English writing and speaking skills.
  • Strong proficiency with Excel for data analysis and visualization; experience with the Python programing language, Bloomberg terminal, and an ability to work with multiple diverse datasets in a fast-paced environment is a plus.
Location and travel requirements
  • The strongly preferred location for this role is Washington, DC, but New York City or the Bay Area of California are both acceptable options.
  • Occasional domestic and international travel (15%-20%).
Compensation, benefits, and recruiting process
Rhodium Group offers competitive compensation, a progressive benefits package, and opportunities for intellectual and professional advancement while working with a talented and entrepreneurial group of colleagues. Typically, an Associate Director joins at an annualized salary of $171,169. You will also have an additional year-end bonus based on a combination of company and individual performance.
